NANCY HOUTS HATTON

After suffering since last September with cancer of the liver, Nancy Catherine Hatton, wife of ex-county commissioner Melvin Hatton, died at her home in WIngate Wednesday evening June 17 at 5:00 o'clock. She had been dangerously ill with little chance for much longer lease of life for two weeks, and was unconscious shortly before her death. Mrs. Hatton was past 60. She was the youngest daughter of Leonard Houts. She was born in the Green Bay neighborhood where she was reared and lived until about 25 years ago when after her marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Hatton moved to a farm north of Wingate. EIght years ago they again moved this time to Wingate, and have lived there since. Of a pious, fervent disposition, Mrs. Hatton took an active part in church work during her entire life. At the time of her death, she was president of the missionary society of the Methodist Church of which she was a devout member. She was known and loved throughout the community. She is survived by two sons, Clarence and Eward, both of whom live at Wingate and by several grandchildren. Cyrus B. Houts of this city, who died over two years ago was a brother of Mrs. Hatton. The funeral was held Friday morning at 10 o'clock in charge of Rev. Mr. Martin of the Methodist Church at Wingate. - kbz
